Sands of Kahana Restaurant - 2nd Review

Mai Tai, Shrimp Quesadilla and Pina Colada
Tonight is our last night in Maui.  Sad, yes, but going back to L.A. isn't so bad.  Anyway, we decided to go back to the Sands of Kahana Restaurant for happy hour and an early dinner.  It's right next to our hotel, and the food and prices are both great.
Lava Flow

I started with my Maui usual - a Mai Tai.  I've had Mai Tais at several places in Maui now, and the ones at Sands are probably my favorite.  My husband tried their Lava Flow.  He loved the coconut and strawberry flavor.  Then we ordered our favorite happy hour appetizer, the Shrimp Quesadilla.  Before happy hour ended, I ordered one last Mai Tai, and my husband tried the Pina Colada, which is basically a Lava Flow with the strawberries.  He liked it, but he liked the Lava Flow better.  It's just personal preference.

From 5:30-6:30 they have 50% off some of their dinner entrees, but the 50% off starts at 5pm in the bar.  I ordered the Macadamia Nut Crusted Fresh Fish with rice pilaf, and my husband ordered the Sirloin Steak with mashed potatoes.  Both meals were really good especially for the price.  The fish was incredibly fresh.  The bartender said it was same-day fresh.  There was a little mango and papaya adorning the rice and fish, which was a nice tropical touch.  The steak had a great flavor and was perfectly cooked.  The potatoes were creamy and delicious.

Overall, no complaints.  Great meal deals.  The bartender's friendly.  Great service.  If you're staying in Kahana, you must check out happy hour at the Sands.  You can't beat the beach-front location.

My next post will be from L.A.  Aloha!

Happy eating!
